Overview

The Siemens SIMATIC TP1200 Comfort is the benchmark 12-inch HMI panel in the SIMATIC Comfort Panel series, designed for direct integration with S7-1500/1200 controllers over PROFINET. Its 12.1-inch widescreen TFT display with 1280×800 resolution and capacitive multi-touch delivers a smartphone-quality interface on the factory floor, while the hardened glass front withstands industrial cleaning agents and satisfies IP65 ingress protection.

All screen development is handled in TIA Portal WinCC Comfort — the same engineering tool used for the S7-1500 PLC in the same project. Tag names are shared automatically: a variable defined in the S7-1500 CPU appears directly in the WinCC tag browser without manual re-entry, and changes to PLC variable names propagate to all HMI screen objects using those tags with a single project compile.

Beyond local display, the TP1200 includes a VNC server enabling remote monitoring from any browser or VNC client, an integrated web server for custom HTML dashboards, and OPC UA client capability to pull data from any OPC UA server on the network — making it a genuine data hub at the machine level, not just a display device.
